Welcome to the Kentucky APIC Chapters

Working to impact Infection Prevention and Control in healthcare facilities for Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

APIC's vision is to improve the health of people worldwide, serving as the pre-eminent voice for excellence in the prevention and control of infections and related adverse outcomes.

This website serves to connect the three APIC chapters in Kentucky. We all share the same challenges in addressing infection and improving patient outcomes.

This site will link our three chapters and provide easy access to documents that are of common benefit.

CDC Media call on Thursday May 27, 2010

The CDC Media call on Thursday May 27, 2010, discusses the use of Standardize Infection Ratios (SIR). This is a relatively new method for monitoring and comparing outcomes so our members may want some references in order to do some reading about this method. Three references are attached in case you want to download and review.

Tim Wiemken PhD candidate, MPH, CIC will be discussing this as well as other aspects of demonstrating outcomes at the June 9th chapter meeting.
